Deutsche Telekom to Merge T-Mobile, Landline Business

In an effort to support fixed-mobile convergence plans and avoid cannibalism among lines of business, Deutsche Telekom has confirmed that it will merge T-Mobile International AG into DT proper. T-Mobile Deutschland will be combined with Germany’s T-Home as one subsidiary under DT.

DT Chairman René Obermann said the move will allow German customers to receive integrated offers and services, and will allow mobile devices to use the fixed network if the cellular network isn’t available. He said there will be some management consolidation but that it was not a job-cutting program.
