Connexion Builds FTTH Net to Development for Carriers

Connexion Technologies, which helps carriers reach residences with broadband communications and entertainment services, has built a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network to the Villages of Apex, a mixed-use development in Apex, N.C.

The company describes itself as a “fiber-optic amenity” company in that it finances and builds networks atop which it recruits operators to deliver residential services. The innovative business model was designed to lower the cost of market entry for carriers.

Connexion did not reveal the price of the project, nor did it say if it has contracted with carriers to provide broadband services over the FTTH nets.

Realizing advanced networks can raise the value of homes and other dwellings, Connexion Technologies partnered with Apex First Development, developer of The Villages of Apex. Connexion is installing the FTTH net, which means capex avoidance for providers.

Connexion invests its capital to design, build and operate FTTH networks in single family, multi-family, high rise, resort and hospitality properties nationwide. By linking its partners with leading service providers, Connexion Technologies says it offers the best in enhanced television, telephone, Internet, and security monitoring services.

Beyond reaching new customers with broadband services, the Connexion approach could prove extra attractive as operators balance cutbacks in capital spending against the ongoing need to add TV and broadband subscribers.

The Village’s network will support what Connexion calls “ultra-high speed Internet connections, more than 200 digital channels of entertainment and multi-function telephone service.”

The network will also include a digital community channel for posting news exclusive to the neighborhood such as clubhouse meetings, community events, restaurant information and resident yard sales, according to Connexion.

The company was founded in 2002 and now has 17 offices nationwide.
