Comcast Loses More Basic Subs than Expected

Comcast Corp. (CMCSA) is edging ever-closer to snaring majority broadband market share from its telco competitors.

The country’s largest cable operator reported higher sales and income for 2008’s third quarter as compared to the same period a year earlier.

Still, Comcast lost more basic cable subscribers than it likely expected, though some media outlets say it’s not as bad as it could have been because more households are keeping their pay TV in lieu of expensive nights out.

VoIP service represented Comcast’s fastest-growing division.
