TelcoTV: CloverLeaf, Accedo Bring IPTV Games to Telcos

11/12/2008

Nobody wants to play around when it comes to finding ways to create add value to TV services, unless your talking about adding games to the IPTV offerings of independent telcos.

With that in mind, CloverLeaf Digital LLC, which provides interactive TV apps and services, has teamed with IPTV game specialist Accedo Broadband AB of Sweden, to distribute its games in North America.

CloverLeaf will now offer two leading advanced interactive TV services ─ Accedo's Funspot games and CloverLeaf's own DotDaily localized news and information walled garden. For the first time, the duo claims, North American independents will be able to obtain both interactive games and walled garden services from one local supplier.

“Partnering with CloverLeaf gives Accedo an effective channel to reach independent North American service providers, and allows North American service providers to easily launch our Funspot games which have been extremely successful internationally,” said Michael Lantz, Accedo Broadband CEO, in prepared comments.

“Offering advanced two-way services such as Funspot and DotDaily delivers on the IPTV promise, and is the easiest and most economical way for service providers to add value for their subscribers and differentiate their video offering from their competitors,” said Cloverleaf Digital Founder Lawrence Brickman, in prepared comments.

CloverLeaf will offer a selection of 15 popular Funspot games, including: Sudoku, Black Jack, and other arcade, casino, strategy and kids games. As with CloverLeaf's DotDaily walled garden, Accedo Broadband's Funspot games are supported by all major middleware platforms distributed in North America, the duo claims.

The two companies did not say if telcos would be able to generate revenue through providing the game to their subscribers.
