Cavalier Puts Hatteras on the Ethernet Express
Paula Bernier
01/30/2008 Cavalier Telephone and TV today officially announced Hatteras Networks as its exclusive supplier for Mid-Band Ethernet gear. The CLEC is using the equipment to deliver its Ethernet Express services, which it launched on a limited scale in October and greatly expanded this month. The service, which delivers speeds from 3mbps to 45mbps, is available in 240 end offices across seven states and Washington, D.C. Pricing for the service is done on a per megabit basis. The company provides SLAs with the services that address service availability, latency and packet loss, said Glenn Moore, director of marketing for Cavalier, which is one of the nation’s largest CLECs, serving 650,000 business customers in 15 states and the District of Columbia. The company also provisions more loops than necessary to ensure customers can upgrade bandwidth in the future more quickly, Moore said, adding that having extra loops also provides more survivability. To learn more about Cavalier’s service and how to get into the Mid-band Ethernet services yourself, join Cavalier, Hatteras and xchange magazine for a Webinar on Thursday, Jan. 31, at 2pm EST.
