Catching Up with Internet Pioneers

They created what many call the first great content site on the Web. The founders of CNET are back, but they’re working on separate projects. Halsey Minor has started a tech and media venture company in San Francisco. It will fund projects like Grand Central ─ a Google voice mail system. Minor’s former partner, Shelby Bonnie, is operating Whiskey.com. The startup builds social media sites about politics, sports, games and more. CBS recently bought CNET for $1.8 billion. Minor and Bonnie were long gone by that time, but they still made a lot of money off of their creation. Minor says he made $200 million from the sale of the company.
