BT Voice-Enables Salesforce.com

04/09/2009

There’s been plenty of talk about using the cloud to more easily enable mash-ups between various applications. This is one of the goals behind British Telecom plc’s Ribbit division, which is now voice-enabling cloud stalwart Salesforce.com.

Users in the U.K. can now add wireless voice to existing CRM applications with Ribbit for Salesforce.com. Which means that salesmen can call in leads or account notes to the system while on the road, rather than take the time to log onto the Internet with a laptop and type them in. The voice file is saved in the CRM message center in case the transcription isn’t entirely accurate. BT says the accuracy rate is between 80 and 90 percent accurate.

The application has been available in the United States since last summer, and Salesforce.com also integrates with Skype.
