AT&T to Provide Hosted PeopleSoft Applications

12/10/2008

It looks like Microsoft’s loss could be Oracle’s gain. The same day that Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. (NTT) and Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) announced they’re in discussions to collaborate on software as a service (SaaS), and just days after Microsoft revealed plans to discontinue its Connected Services Framework effort, of which AT&T Inc. (T) is a customer, AT&T announced a deal with Oracle Corp. (ORCL).

AT&T said today it will provide a subscription-based PeopleSoft solution, which addresses human resources, payroll, and back-office operations, from Oracle, to midsize companies in the U.S. AT&T will provide the services over its Synaptic Hosting platform, which lets customers add computing capacity, bandwidth, and storage space as needed and charges them only for what they use.
