Arbor Networks: Botnets Threaten Internet Even More
11/11/2008
Malicious hackers are doing their darndest to bring down computer networks. They’ve increased botnet attacks a hundredfold since 2000, according to a new study released by Arbor Networks, and sometimes the attacks don’t stop until the ISP pays the crooks. Conversely, DDoS attacks have decreased as a key concern. Arbor Networks’ study found that’s because ISPs are focusing on better communications and quality infrastructure to protect their networks. Meanwhile, VoIP and IPv6 increasingly are vulnerable to cyber criminals, according to the study. This is the fourth consecutive year Arbor Networks has conducted its security threat report. The company helps ISPs monitor network performance.
