Allot Harnesses DPI for Malicious Traffic IdentificationServiceProtector 4.0 Address Security Challenge Slowdowns
Bob Wallace
09/26/2008 Allot Communications Ltd. (ALLT), a deep packet inspection (DPI) products maker, announced ServiceProtector 4.0, which identifies malicious traffic and enables isolation of infected subscribers allowing real traffic to pass unimpeded, at 10gbps speeds. Allot said it’s the first security product resulting from in January 2008 acquisition of Esphion Ltd. ServiceProtector identifies malicious traffic and activities, such as denial of service, Zero Day and zombie attacks, worm propagation and spambots. ServiceProtector allows service providers to extend Allot’s traditional DPI capabilities and policy-based quality-of-service enforcement with mitigation of security threats, according to the vendor. The vendor did not provide pricing or availability for the package. A DPI-fueled advertising package Allot was set to announce at the end of spring is still on the back-burner, a choice the company made as controversy surrounding online behavioral advertising began to mount.
