ACCESS Supercharges Mobile Browser

ACCESS Co. Ltd. has upgraded its NetFront Browser for mobile handsets and Internet-enabled devices. Version 4.0 performs JavaScript executions 20-times faster than the previous 3.5 version, the company says.

The NetFront Browser is offered to device manufacturers via an API application and porting layers; the 4.0 versions are backward-compatible with 3.5.

ACCESS initially will make a concept version of NetFront Browser v.4.0 for Windows Mobile available for free download for a limited time beginning January 13. In addition to the Windows Mobile version, ACCESS is planning versions for other major mobile operating systems and Internet-enabled devices.

NetFront Browser was designed and optimized to deliver high-performance in resource-constrained environments, the company says.

It runs transparently to the user. According to info from operators and device ownership data from comScore's MobiLens research, NetFront Browser is deployed on more handset models in the U.S. and through multi-country operators in the top five European markets (France, Germany, Great Britain, Italy and Spain) than any other mobile Internet browser, ACCESS notes.
