EchoStar Changes Name to Dish Network

Satellite TV provider EchoStar plans to change its name to Dish Network Corp. as part of a spinoff it announced this fall.

It filed the request with the Securities and Exchange Commission this week.

The company had said it would create two separate businesses, one for its satellite subscription service – already commercially known as Dish Network – and the other to focus more on the equipment side. For now the latter, which will become an independent company upon completion of the spinoff, will be called EchoStar Holding Co.
