XO Doubles Capacity with Cisco Gear
12/03/2007
XO Communications is upping capacity on its nationwide IP/MPLS network to support high-speed Internet access services and expand into the high-capacity IP transit services, the company said Monday. The expansion, which will more than double current capacity and has the potential to provide a four-fold increase, will be enabled by CRS-1 routers from Cisco Systems Inc. The gear, which will be used in XO’s IP/MPLS network core, will support such services as high-speed dedicated Internet access, Ethernet, IP tansit, IP-VPN and VoIP. The upgrade follows a recent expansion of the XO long-haul transport network to deliver a broader range of high-capacity network transport services, including Ethernet, private line and wavelength services.
