EXFO Introduces New Test Module

EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. has introduced the new FTB-8140 Transport Blazer SONET/SDH and OTN test module for high-speed networking applications at 40gbps and 43gbps.

The FTB-8140 Transport Blazer ensures SONET/SDH and ROADM network build outs meet industry standards and allows service providers to deploy voice, data and video services, the Canadian-based company said.

The FTB-8140 Transport Blazer provides advanced SONET/SDH and OTN test functions in a single module to address the demands of commissioning and troubleshooting 43gbps networks. The product’s interface and OTN with ITU-T G.709 forward error correction streamline testing of OC-768/STM-256 links without compromising on functionality. The FTB-8140 is also compatible with NRZ, ODB, DSPK, and DQPSK optical transmission protocols.

Service providers also can leverage EXFO’s FTB-400 Universal Test System, a PC-based, modular field-test platform. Key optical modules that can be combined with the FTB-8140 include EXFO’s chromatic dispersion, polarization mode dispersion and optical spectrum analyzer, as well as the FTB-7000 OTDR family, the company said.

The FTB-8140 Transport Blazer module can also be matched with the FTB-8130NGE Power Blazer to address DSn/PDH, SONET/SDH (155MB to 40GG), OTN (2.7GB to 43GB), and Ethernet (10MB to 10GigE LAN/WAN) testing requirements in a single platform.
