Time Warner Names CEO
11/05/2007
Media giant Time Warner Inc. has named Jeffrey L. Bewkes as CEO. Bewkes, who is currently president and COO, will take over Jan. 1. He succeeds Richard D. Parsons, who will remain with Time Warner as chairman. “Jeff is the right person to be the next CEO of Time Warner, and I couldn’t be more delighted that he will lead this company into the future,” Parsons said. “Jeff is a well-respected business executive both inside and outside the company. His results-oriented management style and deep industry knowledge will be invaluable as he drives growth at Time Warner.” Bewkes served as president and COO since 2006 and was elected to the Company’s Board of Directors earlier this year. In that position, he oversaw operations at Time Inc., HBO, Turner Broadcasting, Warner Bros., New Line Cinema, Time Warner Cable and AOL. He also was chairman of Time Warner’s entertainment and networks group from 2002-05. Bewkes also helped HBO grow into the most profitable TV network, Time Warner said, and served various roles with the premium network including CEO, COO and CFO. Parsons first approached the board about leaving the CEO board early last year.
