Global Crossing Goes Wireless with Nextlink
11/05/2007
Global Crossing said Monday it will resell Nextlink’s broadband wireless services nationwide, using Nextlink’s high-capacity metro and last mile access solutions as virtual extensions of its IP network. The arrangement gives Global Crossing more direct access to its customers and increased local coverage, lessening the need to lease the last mile from wired LECs. Nextlink owns fixed wireless spectrum covering 75 major metropolitan markets, and can deliver 622Mbps OC-12 links. “Our agreement with Nextlink provides Global Crossing with an alternate access solution while expanding the reach of our Ethernet services throughout the United States with carrier-grade, high speed last mile access,” said Dan Wagner, Global Crossing’s executive vice president of enterprise sales and collaboration services. “This use of Nextlink’s service will provide for our customers’ ever expanding diversity requirements.”
