Webroot, Email Systems Merge

Webroot Software Inc. said it has merged with Email Systems, a SaaS security provider.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Webroot will now provide a new e-mail and web security SaaS solution that delivers e-mail archiving, image scanning and encryption, anti-spam, anti-phishing and anti-virus services.

“Email Systems offers an unrivalled SaaS technology that represents a tipping point in enterprise security. We now have the opportunity to offer it on a much bigger scale. The new organization will incorporate the management, sales, marketing and technical teams of our two companies to create a true global partnership,” said Mike Irwin, COO of Webroot Software.

Webroot will offer e-mail and Web management, protection and compliance services that can be integrated with the Webroot AntiSpyware Corporate Edition with AntiVirus end-point protection solution.

Both businesses will continue to operate within existing market spaces, the companies said. Webroot will be retaining all current employees and accelerating targeted new hires.

The new organization also reaffirmed its commitment to a channel-led model in the SaaS space. Webroot will support all existing customers of Email Systems and their current offerings, the companies said.
