Nokia Siemens Buys Ethernet Company

10/25/2007

Nokia Siemens Networks is buying ATRICA, a carrier Ethernet company based in Santa Clara, Calif.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, except that it should close by Jan. 1.

Nokia Siemens, headquartered in Germany, said on Thursday the acquisition means it can sell end-to-end carrier Ethernet networks for less than data-optimized transport networks.

ATRICA’s 180 employees will become part of Nokia Siemens.

The ATRICA buyout marks Nokia Siemens’ first acquisition.
