WiMAX Award Winners Unveiled

xchange magazine on Wednesday presented the Best of WiMAX World USA 2007 Awards to seven recipients. The awards recognized leaders in the development and deployment of WiMAX technologies.
Eliot Weinman, conference co-chair and president of Trendsmedia, Kelly Teal, business and regulatory editor of xchange and Tara Seals, associate editor of xchange, presented the awards.
The WiMAX World USA Award winners were: • Chip Design: Sequans Communications SQN1130 • System Design: ZyXel MAX-1200/3200 Mobile WiMAX Product Series • Service Provider Deployment: Clearwire Wireless High-Speed Internet • Device/Peripheral/Application Software: Airspan Networks MiMAX USB • Industry Innovation: Sprint Xohm Mobile Internet Services • WiMAX World Digital Cities Deployment: Telsima WiMAX Rollout in India • Industry Choice: Motorola WiMAX CPEi 800/850 Series Desktop CPE

The runners-up were Beceem Communications BCS200 Chipset for Chip Design; Towerstream Nationwide Network for Service Provider Deployment; Redline Communications Redline Management Suite for Service Provider Deployment; WiNetworks WiN6000 Relay Station for Industry Innovation; Nortel Netago Wireless and the Alberta Special Areas Board WiMAX Deployment for WiMAX World Digital Cities Deployment; and Sequans Communications SQN1130 for Industry Choice.
Nominations were open to exhibitors, sponsors and speakers of the WiMAX World USA Conference, with the exception of the WiMAX World Digital Cities Deployment category, which was open to exhibitor, sponsors and presenters of both the WiMAX World USA and Digital Cities Conferences. The Industry Choice Award was voted on at the conference by attendees.
Winners and Industry Choice nominees were selected by a judging panel of experts from the WiMAX community. The awards, in their second year, received more than 80 nominations – double that of the inaugural contest.
The winners were selected by an independent judging panel, including Craig Mathias, principal, Farpoint Group; Will Strauss, principal analyst, Forward Concepts; Adlane Fellah, CEO and founder, Maravedis Inc.; Caroline Gabriel, lead research analyst, Rethink Research; Philip Marshall, vice president of enabling technologies, Yankee Group; James Farstadt, founder and president, rClient LLC; Michael Khalilian, chairman and president, IMS Forum; and representatives from xchange and Trendsmedia.
