USCarrier, Fujitsu to Upgrade Georgia Network
09/24/2007
USCarrier Telecom LLC and Fujitsu Network Communications said Monday they will upgrade an existing OC-48 ring that will allow USCarrier to deliver advanced SONET, Ethernet and wavelength services.
The network upgrade is set to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2007, the companies said.
The upgrade will connect points of presence (POPS) in Georgia from Savannah to Waycross, Waycross to Valdosta and Valdosta to Macon. USCarrier is deploying the Fujitsu FLASHWAVE 7420 Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) systems and FLASHWAVE 4500 Multiservice Provisioning Platforms (MSPPs) on the company’s current OC-48 ring.
The addition of the DWDM platform will allow USCarrier to increase the capacity of the existing network, while the SONET platform provides scalable SONET across the network and will enable the company to deliver carrier-class TDM and Ethernet services.
