IMS Forum Announces Third Plugfest

The IMS Forum has set a date for the third IMS Plugfest – Oct. 15-19 at the University of New Hampshire InterOp Lab (IOL).

The IMS Forum also announced that Intel and Sonus Networks have signed on as Plugfest III sponsors. Plugfest III participants are Acision, ARGELA Technologies (Türk Telekom), Coppercom, Data Connection Ltd, Ixia, Mavenir Systems, Mu Security, NE Technologies/MARBEN, RADVISION, Reef Point, Sonus Networks, Starent Networks and Tekelec.

IMSF Plugfest III results will be revealed at Fall VON 2007, to be held Oct. 29-Nov. 1 in Boston.

The first Plugfests validated a multivendors IMS architecture capable of supporting a 250,000-subscriber network and tested IMS multimedia applications, fixed mobile convergence (FMC) functionality, and IM, VoIP, IP Centrex, SMS, voice mail, video sharing and advertiser-supported services, the IMS Forum said.

Plugfest III will include VoIP, instant messaging and FMC; video and multimedia; services for businesses and unified communications; user and application profile handling; and security, reliability and robustness testing for IMS services.

The IMS Forum is open to all companies developing solutions for IMS.

“IMS Plugfests are gaining momentum, proving that IMS is ready for the multi-vendor deployments for both legacy and green field networks” said Michael Khalilian, chairman and president of the IMS Forum. “The first two plugfests were a success, and we are looking forward to third event for this year.”
