VeriSign CEO Steps Down
05/29/2007
VeriSign Inc. on Tuesday announced the resignation of President and CEO Stratton Sclavos and named William Roper Jr. as his replacement. VeriSign also named Edward Mueller chairman.
The company did not give a reason for Sclavos’ resignation, but said a review of its stock option grant practices did not find intentional wrongdoing by any member of senior management, including Sclavos.
VeriSign also said Tuesday it postponed its analyst day, which was scheduled for June 6.
Roper has served on the VeriSign board since November 2003 and most recently was executive vice president of Science Applications International Corp. Mueller joined the VeriSign board in March 2005.
