Vonage Delays Filing of Annual Report, Awaits Judge’s Decision

04/04/2007

Vonage Holdings Corp. won’t file its annual report on time because of the patent lawsuit it recently lost to Verizon Communications Inc.

The VoIP provider is awaiting a judge’s decision – expected Friday – over whether it will be allowed to continue operating. At that time, it will know how to state its financials, it said in the filing.

A jury on March 23 ordered Vonage to pay $58 million to Verizon, plus 5.5 percent royalty fees on all of its future revenue. A federal judge then issued an injunction permanently barring Vonage from using Verizon’s patented technology.

Most industry analysts and experts don’t think the judge will tell Vonage to cut off service immediately – instead, they expect the court will give Vonage time to find a workaround.
