Subex Azure Completes $165.4 million Syndesis Acquisition

Subex Azure Ltd. has successfully completed its acquisition of Syndesis Ltd., an all-cash transaction that has created a one-stop back-office OSS company.

Subex Azure, a revenue assurance, fraud and interconnect settlement company, is itself a result of an RA megamerger between the two market leaders in that space, but the entity has widened its focus considerably by absorbing Syndesis, a fulfillment vendor.

The expanded portfolio now combines revenue maximization

solutions with provisioning and assurance capabilities, to offer operators a way to tie together fiscal activities and the launch of new services.

The expanded company has reorganized itself into three distinct business units. Subex Azure, excluding business from British Telecom, is the Revenue Mazimization Solutions division; Syndesis is the Fulfillment and Assurance Solutions arm; and current Subex Azure business from British Telecom forms the BT Business unit.

They all will operate independently, with their own plans, account managers domain experts and support specialists, Subex Azure said.

The consolidation trend got a boost when billing behemoth Amdocs Ltd. snapped up inventory and service fulfillment specialist Cramer Systems last year, and has continued with a wide range of acquisitions by Oracle Corp. and others. The end result — an industry dominated by giant, global OSS powerhouses — is changing the landscape considerably going forward. On one hand it gives operators a single throat to choke and eases integration issues; on the other, smaller players will have a difficult time competing.
