PowerTel Installs Hatteras Gear

Australian phone company PowerTel is installing Hatteras Networks’ Ethernet gear so it can offer 2mbps to 40mbps symmetrical Ethernet-over-copper services throughout the land Down Under.

“PowerTel’s enterprise customers will no longer have to wait for fiber to get high-performance, high-value Ethernet services,” said Paul Broad, PowerTel’s managing director.

With its new Ethernet solutions, PowerTel will target large enterprises, SMEs and wholesale carriers and service providers.

The company owns its telecommunications network in approximately 300 exchanges in all the major population centers in Australia.
