Alvarion, Accton Form New Company

Alvarion Ltd. and Accton Technology Corp. have formed a new company – Accton Wireless Broadband (AWB).

AWB will be based in Taiwan and will develop WiMAX electronic devices to complement Alvarion’s WiMAX offerings. The new company will design and develop CPEs and other end-user devices based on the 802.16e-2005 WiMAX specifications.

AWB will sell its devices to Alvarion to be part of its 4Motion Open WiMAX platform.

Initially, AWB will concentrate on the production of PCMCIA cards, indoor self-installable and outdoor residential gateways, the companies said. A release date is expected during the second quarter of this year.
