Apple Unveils Phone, TV Offerings

Apple Inc. has entered the cell phone market with its new iPhone, which combines mobile phone, widescreen iPod and Internet capabilities. There will be 4GB and 8GB versions of the iPhone available in June. Cingular Wireless has been dubbed the exclusive U.S. carrier. The iPhone has no keypad, instead featuring a touch-screen display. It has Wi-Fi capabilities and a camera. The phone also has visual voice mail, allowing users togo directly to any message without listening to others. The iPhone will cost $499 for the 4GB model and $599 for the 8GB version. Apple also has unveiled Apple TV, a television that will allow users to watch video content downloaded from the iTunes site . The set has a 40GB hard drive that can store up to 50 hours of video, along with music and photos. It can stream content from up to five computers within the wireless range.
