Switch and Data Expands Chicago Data Center Facility

08/03/2006

Switch and Data, an exchange and neutral colocation provider, recently said that it will almost triple its data center presence in the Chicago market. The expansion continues a push by the company to provide customers with increased colocation and interconnection services, the company said.

The Chicago expansion adds to previous investments the company has made to increase its presence in key markets. In January 2006, the company expanded its New York City operations, increasing its footprint to 85,000 square feet and implementing advanced 10-gigabit Ethernet and optical networking capabilities. In June of this year, Switch and Data completed a major expansion of its Palo Alto, Calif., data center, one of the densest Internet exchanges in the world, and added additional 10-gigabit Ethernet capacity to its PAIX services.
