ATIS and DVB Establish Liaison for IPTV Standards Development
07/11/2006
ATIS and the Digital Video Broadcasting Project (DVB) on Tuesday announced an agreement establishing a liaison between the two groups and to assist in the joint collaboration on standards activity in support of IPTV architecture, digital rights management (DRM), content protection and copy management, and QoS metrics. The agreement enables the two groups to share documents for comment and evaluation and to have representatives attend the other’s meetings to ensure work products are complementary and avoid conflicts. The ATIS IPTV Interoperability Forum (IIF) develops ATIS standards and related technical activities that enable the interoperability, interconnection and implementation of IPTV systems and services, including VoD and interactive TV services. It recently published requirements documents for IPTV architecture and DRM. DVB is an industry-led consortium of more than 270 broadcasters, manufacturers, network operators, software developers, regulatory bodies and others in more than 35 countries who are committed to designing global standards for the global delivery of digital television and data services. Services using DVB standards are available on every continent with more than 120 million DVB receivers deployed.
