Fujitsu Adds Airspan AS.MAX to Portfolio

Fujitsu Network Communications Inc. announced on Wednesday the availability of an end-to-end, turnkey solution that combines WiMAX products from Airspan Networks and Fujitsu Network Life Cycle Services to create a broadband wireless solution for North American service providers.

Under the terms of the agreement, Fujitsu has obtained the rights to resell Airspan’s entire portfolio of WiMAX AS.MAX broadband access products in North America. Fujitsu will offer large- and small-scale base station solutions as well as indoor, outdoor and Wi-Fi-enabled CPE.

AS.MAX products support the rollout of WiMAX networks, delivering comprehensive support for a range of end-user devices that integrate both WiMAX and Wi-Fi technologies, the company said. The Fujitsu-offered AS.MAX solution incorporates network features that allow it to deliver VoIP services, including integrated SIP gateway messaging to enable call control and capacity reservation for voice traffic.

Fujitsu Network Life Cycle Services are designed to help carriers create and extend their WiMAX footprint by utilizing planning services such as RF engineering, site acquisition and site preparation, the company said. Fujitsu offers deployment services that include installation and test/turn-up services, as well as backhaul and back-office connectivity provisioning. Fujitsu manages deployment logistics including all local permits, inspections and contracts. Fujitsu also provides network statistics and offers 24/7 monitoring, maintenance and support.
