GENBAND, Allied Telesis Deliver Triple-Play Solution
06/27/2006
Telecommunications infrastructure products provider GENBAND Inc. has secured its 10th customer for IP triple-play solutions using its G6 Universal Gateway and Allied Telesis’ integrated Multiservice Access Platform (iMAP) solution, GENBAND said Monday.
The G6 platform’s network migration, and use as an access and trunking media gateway, allows incumbents to leverage broadband technologies and deliver next-gen voice and multimedia services using Class 5 switches, softswitches and SIP application servers. Allied Telesis’ iMAP, an IP transport and access network element, delivers next-generation and traditional telco services over Ethernet/IP. The combined platforms are being deployed by IOCs seeking to deliver IP services through next-generation networks, the companies said.
“Telcos want to transition their entire networks to an IP infrastructure. However, many have PSTN Class 5 switches with years of depreciation remaining,” said Dean Patterson, Allied Telesis’ vice president of carrier sales. “The GENBAND G6 platform provides an elegant migration path. By deploying the G6 now, the legacy Class 5 remains in service until it is fully depreciated, and IP transport and access network elements like the Allied Telesis iMAP can be deployed immediately."
