BellSouth Extends Relationship With DIRECTV

BellSouth Corp. today announced that it has signed a five-year exclusive marketing alliance with digital television service provider DIRECTV Inc.

The agreement allows BellSouth to continue to offer digital satellite entertainment services through DIRECTV, and creates a new sales channel for BellSouth FastAccess DSL services.

"This new agreement builds on our very successful relationship with DIRECTV," said David Scobey, president of BellSouth Retail Markets. "More than 523,000 customers have added DIRECTV service to their BellSouth Answers bundle since 2004, a testament to the success of this relationship and this outstanding video entertainment offering.”

DIRECTV's residential customers across BellSouth's nine-state service area now can order BellSouth FastAccess DSL services directly from DIRECTV.

Additionally, BellSouth residential customers can bundle the DIRECTV TOTAL CHOICE package, with BellSouth's communications services at packaged discounted savings through BellSouth Answers. BellSouth customers also are able to get all DIRECTV programming packages that are available to any DIRECTV customer within a given service area.

Under the terms of the new five-year agreement, BellSouth is responsible for the sales and ordering functions, and DIRECTV is responsible for the installation and ongoing service for BellSouth customers who subscribe to DIRECTV service through BellSouth.
