Covad, Verizon Dismiss Pending Lawsuits

12/28/2005

Covad Communications Group and Verizon Communications Inc. said today they have settled pending lawsuits against one another and re-instituted their commercial line-sharing agreement.

The settlement means Covad has dismissed its antitrust case against Verizon, and Verizon has set aside the suit it filed against Covad. The agreement also settles the companies’ billing disputes.

As a result of the compromise, Covad will continue providing its xDSL services over lines used by resellers of Verizon's voice services.

Meanwhile, Covad has agreed to be a preferred provider of local access and network services to MCI Inc.’s DSL business customers. Verizon recently acquired MCI.

Financial terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
