Redback, HP Help Carriers Offer MPLS VPN Services
11/28/2005
Redback Networks Inc. said today that, through its work with Hewlett-Packard, it has created an integrated way to manage MPLS virtual private networking services. The technology combines the edge routing, Ethernet aggregation and subscriber management capabilities of the SmartEdge Service Gateway, with the management capabilities of the HP OpenView Service Activator. This will allow carriers to immediately deliver and manage MPLS VPN services, “capitalizing on the potential revenue opportunity these in-demand services provide,” says Paul Hughes, director of billing and payment applications at Yankee Group. HP OpenView Service Activator supports the creation and activation of a number of services, while the SmartEdge platform supports Layer 2 and Layer 3 MPLS VPN services with virtual routers.
