AT&T, Microsoft Ally to Deliver IP Communications to Businesses
06/07/2005
AT&T Corp. and Microsoft Corp. yesterday announced a deal to bring IP communications to businesses. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. AT&T will use Microsoft’s Connected Services Framework software to create new network IP services and applications, which will be delivered over the carrier’s IP network, accessible from 149 countries. The two companies also plan to develop services focusing on messaging, collaboration, media and business applications over the next five years. Microsoft says it wants to Web-enable AT&T’s VoIP service so VoIP can be delivered through the Connected Services Framework. This would give AT&T’s Dynamic Network Applications customers access to click-to-dial capabilities within any Microsoft Office application.
