Hargray Chooses Occam DSLAMS for Island’s IP Services

Occam Networks Inc., a supplier of Ethernet and IP loop carrier equipment, said today that independent provider Hargray Communications Group has chosen the Occam BLC 6000 System to deliver IP video and high-speed data over DSL to residences and businesses in Hilton Head, S.C.

Occam says Hargray will be able to deliver more than 200 channels of IP video using Occam BLC 6000 ADSL2+ DSLAMs connected via Gigabit Ethernet rings. The BLC 6000 systems will be installed in Hargray’s remote central offices, smaller hubs and terminals. The Gigabit Ethernet rings will use Occam’s Ethernet Protection Switching technology to provide redundancy.

Hargray is in the midst of a five-year buildout of its access network and plans to make IP video and high-speed data services available to 60 percent of Hilton Head’s subscribers – approximately 15,000 residences – in the first year.
