Alcatel, Alvarion Sign OEM Deal

Alcatel said today it has signed an OEM agreement with Alvarion Ltd., which makes wireless broadband technology.

Revealing few specifics, the companies say the deal will help them both meet the growing demand for WiMAX-powered fixed wireless broadband services; they will combine Alvarion's commercial technology with Alcatel's network integration capabilities.

Alcatel also said today it will run several WiMAX pilot deployments in Europe as part of the OEM agreement.
