SBC, 2Wire to Deliver Integrated Home Entertainment

SBC Communications Inc. is working with 2Wire Inc., maker of broadband service platforms for DSL, to deliver an integrated home entertainment service to subscribers. Satellite TV programming, digital video recording, VoD and Internet content all will be available via a set-top box and through SBC’s Yahoo! user interface.

The service will include a satellite TV receiver, DVR and storage for digital photos and music. Customers will have access to the 2Wire MediaPortal technology, which will provide integrated SBC Yahoo! DSL, SBC/DISH Network satellite TV and home-networking services. Users also will be able to access photos and music and to schedule DVRs remotely from any Web-connected computer through the SBC Yahoo! user interface. SBC has plans to add remote access through Cingular Wireless phones.
