TowerStream Adds Chicago PoP
12/09/2004
TowerStream said today the addition of a new PoP on the rooftop of the John Hancock Center in downtown Chicago means it is expanding its wireless high-speed Internet service to businesses in the Chicago metro area. TowerStream’s Chicago network already includes the Aon Center. "Since launching service in Chicago last spring, we have signed on hundreds of business customers looking for better high-speed Internet access without being tied to the phone company for service,” says Jeff Thompson, COO and co-founder of TowerStream. “…[O]ur fixed wireless technology offers the ability to prioritize mission critical applications such as VoIP and can be installed in as little as 48 hours. By building out service in Chicago, we remain on track to bring faster, cheaper, more reliable broadband access to businesses in the top markets in the U.S." TowerStream also maintains PoPs in Boston, Los Angeles, New York and Providence, R.I. The provider plans to expand into San Francisco next year. Business customers in each city are able to connect to TowerStream's services within a 10-mile radius.
