VeriSign Announces Wireless Data Roaming Service

VeriSign Inc. on Tuesday announced new products and services designed to help carriers around the world adopt next-generation solutions.

Among the announcements made at 3GSM World in Cannes, France, VeriSign introduced a wireless data roaming service to help carriers make their wireless data networks interoperable. VeriSign says it has created a solution handling interoperability, billing, network usage medication, clearing and settlement. The solutions span such WAN networking technologies as CDMA 1xRTT, EDGE and Wi-Fi, according to the company.

VeriSign yesterday made several other announcements, including an agreement with BearingPoint to deliver a next-generation billing and payments platform to meet the near-term requirements of wireless carriers. The solution, VeriSign says, also will help the company provide advanced billing capabilities for its expansion into new markets, including international and such new service lines as VoIP, wireline voice and data, broadband, cable and wireless content and data.
