Bush Taps Notebaert for Telecom Advisory Committee
04/25/2003
Richard C. Notebaert has been appointed by President George Bush to serve as a member of the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC). The committee appointment will not affect Notebaert's role as chairman and CEO of Qwest Communications International Inc. The NSTAC is a CEO-only group of up to 30 telecommunications and technology industry executives that advises the president and other White House leaders on policy and technical issues related to telecommunications, information assurance, infrastructure protection, and other national security and emergency preparedness concerns. The group meets several times annually. In other Qwest news, the company has appointed John W. Richardson as controller and senior vice president of finance. Richardson, who will report directly to Oren G. Shaffer, Qwest's CFO and vice chairman, has spent more than 30 years in various financial positions at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., most recently as vice president of finance for the North American Tire business unit, Goodyear's largest business unit.
