Comcast Again Chooses ARRIS for Cable Modem Termination
Paula Bernier
11/12/2002 Comcast has deployed two ARRIS Cadant C4 cable modem termination systems (CMTS) in southeast Michigan, delivering high-speed data to cable modem customers as part of its plan to deploy CMTS equipment capable of delivering advanced services. Earlier this year, Comcast selected the ARRIS Cadant C4 CMTS and Touchstone E-MTAs for its initial deployment of VoIP in the Philadelphia area in 2003. “We are very pleased to again be selected by Comcast, this time as one of their primary data providers,” said Jim Lakin, President, ARRIS Broadband business unit, on announcing the agreement. “This is a great validation of our Cadant acquisition and we look forward to providing Comcast now, and in the future, with a total CMTS voice and data business solution.” The ARRIS Cadant C4 is DOCSIS 1.1-qualified CMTS/edge router. The Touchstone multimedia terminal adapter (MTA) family delivers indoor and outdoor voice-enabled embedded MTA devices, which are designed to operate with any DOCSIS 1.1-qualified CMTS. When combined, the ARRIS Touchstone and Cadant product families provide operators with the head-end to customer premises NIU portion of an end-to-end high-speed data and ToIP solution provided by ARRIS.
