Filanet Adds WiFi Security to All-in-One CPE Access Device

Vendor Filanet this month makes generally available InterJack 310, a customer premises access product that combines the functionality of a WAN modem, a router, security features including stateful firewall and VPN, basic IP services such as file and printer sharing as well as WiFi security.

Dore Rosenblum, vice president of marketing for Filanet, says the product is unique because it combines the functionality of multiple boxes, which helps service providers lower their capex and opex costs while climbing the value chain with new features like wireless security.

The 310 is the next generation of the InterJack 300, which the company introduced in August and which sells for $595 for a base model. Both products each have five Ethernet ports and two USB ports. New with the 310 is the WiFi security component, which offers a number of layers of wireless security including link layer encryption, authentication using 802.1x and enhanced VPN client support. The 310 also offers wireless intrusion detection.

Betas for the 310 start next week. The company wouldn’t disclose the names of the beta customers. But Rosenblum says existing users of Filanet’s two-year-old InterJack 200 service device, a precursor to the 300, include Digital Hand of Florida, TeleDenmark and Trillion Digital.
