2nd Century Debuts Signature Product Line
Gail Lawyer
01/24/2000 2nd Century Communications (www.2c2.com) took its first step to become an outsourced IT partner to its business customers. The Tampa, Fla.-based provider launched ESL Pro, a package of telephony, Internet and IT services for small and mid-sized businesses. ESL Pro takes the complexity and cost out of owning and maintaining a communications infrastructure for smaller businesses, according to John Prisco, CEO of 2nd Century. With ESL Pro, 2nd Century is combining services typically sold separately by local and long distance telephony companies, ISPs, interconnects and LAN systems integrators. Among the services in the package are local, long distance and high-speed Internet access, as well as e-mail, web hosting, firewall, file sharing, and remote desktop and LAN monitoring. Customers will not have to buy or pay additional monthly fees for networking hardware and software or servers. Instead, 2nd Century will provide the needed elements and continually update hardware and software as need. The company will also provide 24x7 remote network monitoring and support. The services will be provided over 2nd Century's data-based local exchange network, through which voice services and high-speed data can run simultaneously over a single line. A scaled down version of the product bundle called ESL is available for customers who want to maintain their own communications equipment. By March 2nd Century will debut ESL Pro in Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Houston, Jacksonville, Orlando, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, South Florida and Tampa, Fla. By the end of this year, the service will be available in a total of 30 cities nationwide.
