Uptime Guarantees Begin with Upfront Quality Assurance

The quality of experience by users of network services
begins long before those services are introduced. Months and
sometimes years prior, the next-generation network gear that
supports new services goes through many levels of quality
testing in various manufacturers’ labs. However, only when
put to the test in real-world, multivendor environments can
the high expectations of uptime and interoperability be met.
Testing services for providers with subscriber bases in
the tens of millions requires automated, repeatable testing
methodologies. This e-book illustrates the application of
these methods to the complex services of 21st
century communications, including the newest, perhaps most
complex: IPTV.

Verizon Plays Host to GMI
Verizon Communications Inc. and others see the biennial
Global MSF Interoperability (GMI) event as a landmark in the
evolution of both IPTV and IMS efforts, and as an example of
priceless progress. The recent multicontinent testing
opportunity involved 22 vendors and more than 225 devices,
and some 1,000 individual tests in the span of 12
super-grueling ’round-the-clock days.
Testing the Rigor of IPTV
Deploying IPTV doesn't end with the purchase of all the
software and hardware components. Telco TV deployers are
taking rigorous pre-testing measures in laboratories to
ensure their video service and enhancements don’t collapse
the fragile IPTV foundation that has been prone to failures.
Testing the Claims of Test Automation
One of the core tenets of the scientific method is that
experiments and tests must be repeatable. That holds true
wherever testing takes place. And preferably, when running
millions of iterations and variations, the testing must be
something else as well: automated.
Juniper Addresses Security Upfront
The last thing an equipment maker needs while testing
new product releases, new protocols or performing published
vulnerability assessments is an expensive babysitter to
observe the testing in case it fails. That defeats the
purpose. So when it came time to enhance the security
analysis of its product portfolio, Juniper Networks turned
to Mu Dynamics.
Advertorial: Testing the Complete Ecosystem
To business owners, time is indeed money, but downtime
is an unnecessary and preventable waste of it. With its
Mu-4000 Service Analyzer, Mu Dynamics helps both network
operators and network equipment manufacturers prevent the
preventable and secure their revenue streams by ensuring the
quality of products and services before they’re
market-ready. |
