I Want My DTV 01/29/2009 08:13
The House of Representatives this week killed the bill to delay the transition to digital TV. The debate on this in Washington isn’t over, but it’s a good first step. Despite a lengthy and costly campaign to inform citizens about the DTV transition, neither the government nor the citizenship is completely ready for it. But it’s rare that everyone involved in a change of this size is ready, so at some point you just need to more forward. While that might create some challenges, it will also bring more certainty both to the transition itself and those companies planning on using the White Space opened up for new broadband wireless services. There’s so much uncertainty right now, so rather than mess with the Feb. 17 DTV transition date, regulators should leave it as is so folks at least have some idea of what to expect on that front.
