Comparing Session Border Controllers
08/01/2006
VoIP peering, security and QoS between networks. SBCs are dedicated network devices placed at the perimeter of a network to facilitate peering, and improve the performance and security of VoIP traffic. Depending on the vendor’s design focus and market, different feature sets of VoIP traffic control and administration can be found to support any of the VoIP requirements of a new or existing network. Miercom, in cooperation with xchange, is conducting a comprehensive analysis of SBCs. The table here offers a snapshot of key features validated by Miercom test engineers and analysts. Feature validation tests and overall product functionality were conducted under heavily loaded conditions. Product performance, scalability and high-availability tests also were conducted during this review. Additional information of this ongoing SBC product evaluation can be found at www.miercom.com/xchange/SBC.
