Forecast: Mobile Apps Will Be $11 Billion Business
09/04/2008
U.S. businesses will spend about $11.6 billion on mobile applications by the year 2012. That’s according to new research from CompassIntelligence.com. The report says the market is poised for double-digit annual growth over the next five years, thanks in part to a growing number of telecommuters and the growing availability of free and fee-base mobile applications available for download. Apple and Google are leading the way in promoting this trend. This year, U.S. businesses are expected to spend just shy of $5 billion on mobile applications. Those include mobile and wireless-based, custom-coded and packaged applications; including productivity, contact management, GPS/Navigation, e-mail, security, file sharing and collaboration.
