MTS Allstream Adds Photos On Demand
Bob Wallace
11/30/2006 Telco TV pioneer MTS Allstream Inc. today announced an innovative service that lets customers of its MTS TV and MTS High Speed Internet service view a slide show of photos on their TV screens. Customers that use the Photos On Demand offering employ Internet connections to upload pictures from digital cameras or cell phones and organize them into albums which can then be viewed through MTS TV. Photos on Demand is available free to all customers who have MTS TV and MTS High Speed Internet. To sign up, customers simply visit www.mts.ca/mtstvphotos. While most IPTV providers are focused on adding channels of programming, and supporting VoD and HD, MTS Allstream has been forging ahead, adding differentiating feature functionality that goes well beyond these table stakes. MTS Photos on Demand even lets you create descriptions and names for each picture you've stored in an album. MTS Allstream, a subsidiary of Manitoba Telecom Services Inc., is one of Canada's largest national communication solutions providers. It operates a nationwide fiber optic network that spans more than 24,300 kilometers. "We constantly look at ways to bring our technologies together and create something new, exciting and convenient for our customers," said Kelvin Shepherd, president consumer markets, MTS Allstream. "Photos on Demand is the latest in a series of enhancements -- like TV E-mail on Demand and TV Call Display -- to marry our MTS TV digital television service with other services like MTS High Speed Intternet." The telco has also met challenges that others are facing now, such as home networking. MTS Allstream found a way, using a product from Siemens, to remotely service and manage customers in a package that enable the centralization and automation of its broadband service.
