Horizon Looks to SeaChange for HDTV Advertising
11/10/2009
SeaChange International has announced that Horizon Telcom is bringing local ad-insertion capabilities to high-definition broadcast channels using a turnkey solution from SeaChange and RGB Networks. Providing video, voice and data services to eight counties in southern Ohio, Horizon is deploying local HD ad insertion in response to the popularity of its HD service and subsequent rise in demand from advertisers. “Horizon’s subscribers and advertisers alike recognize the value of our high-definition services and we felt the timing was right to begin preparing our platform for HD ad insertion,” said Randy Davies, public relations manager, Horizon. “By year’s end we expect to be offering local advertising on 30 of our most popular HD and SD channels with the ability to easily increase capacity as we continue to expand.” Horizon is using SeaChange’s Spot advertising system in conjunction with RGB Networks’ Broadcast Network Processor. Working together, the Spot system and BNP form a turnkey solution for seamless, automated ad insertion without the need for operator intervention, according to the companies. SeaChange is demonstrating the turnkey advertising system this week at the Telco TV Show in Orlando.
